Uzbekistan Hosts First International Forum of Islamic Civilization

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched the first International Forum of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan to promote intercivilizational dialogue, education, and peace across more than 50 countries.

The first International Forum of Islamic Civilization opened on July 7, 2026, across Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez, Uzbekistan. Under the theme "The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment," the event was initiated by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who convened over 450 participants from more than 50 countries, including government officials, religious leaders, and scholars. The forum is co-organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.

President Mirziyoyev called for increased investment in education and scientific cooperation to combat extremism, Islamophobia, and global conflict. During the event, he emphasized that Islamic values and education serve as the foundation for social progress and sustainable development. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan provided a congratulatory message, noting the forum's role in building mutual trust and dialogue within modern international relations.

Proceedings include plenary sessions and academic conferences focusing on the intellectual legacy of scholars like Ibn Sina and Muhammad al-Khwarizmi. The event, which runs through July 11, will conclude with the adoption of a declaration on universal Islamic values and the signing of agreements for digital manuscript preservation and joint research initiatives.
