Tata Electronics Partners With Nexperia and L&T for Chip Production

Tata Electronics has entered two strategic partnerships to accelerate India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. In a deal with Dutch chipmaker Nexperia, the companies will produce Nexperia's MOSFET portfolio at a $11 billion fabrication plant in Dholera and utilize a packaging facility in Jagiroad for testing and assembly. This collaboration follows a 2025 dispute between Nexperia and its former Chinese parent company, Wingtech, which began after the Dutch government blocked Nexperia from moving operations to China.

Simultaneously, Tata Electronics partnered with L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited (LTSCT) to integrate fabless design and engineering with manufacturing infrastructure. The two firms intend to optimize chip designs for large-scale fabrication and explore packaging for LTSCT's product line.

These initiatives align with the Indian government's Semicon 2.0 objectives and the Manufacture in India vision. The combined efforts aim to build a domestic ecosystem that spans front-end wafer fabrication and back-end assembly, reducing reliance on foreign supply chains and increasing domestic value addition.
