Emirates Debuts Electric Privacy Screens for A350 Premium Economy

Emirates has unveiled a new Premium Economy cabin for its newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, featuring the world's first electrically powered, full-height adjustable privacy screens. Passengers can raise, lower, or lock these dividers using integrated seat controls to increase personal space. The cabin is configured with 28 seats in a 2-3-2 layout, providing 20-inch widths and a 39-inch pitch.

The upgraded seats include electric recline with dedicated lounge and meal modes, as well as a cradle-position recline designed to avoid intruding on passengers behind. Amenities include 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreens, wireless charging, USB-C power, and leather footrests. The seats also feature the U-Dream cushioned headrest developed by Safran Seats, which provides full neck support. The airline plans to install these headrests across all A350 Economy and Premium Economy seats by the end of the year.

This rollout is part of a broader strategy to attract high-paying travelers as global passenger growth slows. Emirates expects its Premium Economy service to cover 99 destinations by the end of 2026. The airline is positioning these features as a way to give passengers meaningful control over their environment, contrasting the offering with competing products from carriers such as Lufthansa and Cathay Pacific.
