Samsung Unveils AI Smart Glasses at Galaxy Unpacked 2026

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung Electronics introduced its first AI-powered smart glasses, marking its entry into the intelligent eyewear market. Developed in collaboration with Google, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster, the display-free glasses run on the Android XR platform and utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset. The devices integrate Google Gemini and Samsung Bixby to provide real-time navigation, live language translation, message summarization, and visual scene analysis via a built-in camera.

Samsung claims the glasses offer a nine-hour battery life—surpassing the latest Meta models by one hour—with a charging case providing seven additional charges. To address privacy concerns, the frames include a recording LED that disables the camera if blocked. James Choi, Samsung's head of XR R&D, described the product as a premium offering and noted the company is exploring gesture controls via the Galaxy Ring and smartwatches.

The eyewear was unveiled alongside a broader hardware suite, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 foldables, as well as the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2. While Samsung confirmed a fall 2026 release in select markets, the company has not yet disclosed pricing or the final product name.
