Genflow Biosciences Secures Fast-Track US Patent for SIRT6 Variant

Genflow Biosciences secured accelerated US patent examination for its centenarian-derived SIRT6 gene variant and published new applications targeting liver disease.

Genflow Biosciences Ltd announced the expansion of its intellectual property portfolio on August 3, 2026, centering on a centenarian-derived SIRT6 gene variant known as SIRT6c. The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted Track One prioritized examination for the company's foundational compound of matter patent application, which focuses on preventing and treating age-related diseases. This foundational patent is jointly owned by the University of Rochester, Columbia University, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is exclusively licensed to Genflow worldwide.

Simultaneously, the U.S. Patent Office published a separate application for using SIRT6c to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also referred to as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). A corresponding application is currently in the final stages of examination with the European Patent Office.

Chief Executive Eric Leire described these developments as a layered strategy to protect the variant, its delivery methods, and specific medical indications. He noted that these milestones are intended to attract commercial partners, particularly in the animal health sector. Beyond intellectual property, Genflow expects to receive biological age data from a dog clinical trial by the end of August 2026, following logistical delays. The company intends to further advance its MASH and glaucoma programs.
