FBI Raids Eric Swalwell Home Amid Misconduct Probe

The FBI raided the Washington, D.C. home of Eric Swalwell on Sunday and seized electronic devices from him at the San Francisco International Airport the previous day. These actions are part of a federal investigation into allegations of sexual assault and misconduct.

Swalwell resigned from Congress and withdrew from the California gubernatorial race in April following accusations from multiple women, including a former staffer who alleged he raped her. While he has apologized for "mistakes in judgment," he has denied the sexual assault claims and vowed to fight them.

Beyond the federal probe, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department have opened criminal investigations. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is also investigating allegations that Swalwell illegally employed a Brazilian nanny. Additionally, the White House recently released declassified FBI documents concerning Swalwell's past relationship with a suspected Chinese spy, a move his lawyer claims is intended to punish a critic of the current administration.
