Brad Boles Wins Oklahoma Corporation Commission Seat
Republican Brad Boles won election to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, where he will regulate the state's energy and public utility industries starting in January.
Republican State Representative Brad Boles won the election for a seat on the Oklahoma Corporation Commission on November 3, 2026. Boles, who currently chairs the Energy and Natural Resources Oversight Committee, will replace the term-limited Todd Hiett in January.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission oversees the state's public utility, transportation, oil, and gas industries, including the authority to vote on electricity rate cases. The election occurred as Oklahoma faced rising electricity costs and a surge in data center proposals, which prompted moratoriums in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
Boles previously authored the Data Center Consumer Ratepayer Protection Act of 2026 to establish separate terms and conditions for large-scale energy users, such as data centers and cryptocurrency mining. He defeated Democratic candidate Rhonda Eastman, who campaigned on increasing regulations for injection wells and researching the impacts of nuclear power and data centers.
