FCC Restricts Import of Chinese Humanoid and Mobile Robots

The Federal Communications Commission restricted the import and use of new Chinese-made humanoid and advanced mobile robots in the United States. The agency framed the industrial policy decision as a necessary step to protect national security and ensure economic competitiveness, citing the strategic importance of robotics within the manufacturing sector.

This measure aims to create a protective barrier against the Government of China, which has pursued a long-term national strategy to aggressively expand its industrial capacity and robot deployment.

Industry representatives responded by cautioning that import restrictions alone are insufficient. The CEO of GrayMatter Robotics argued that the United States must complement these protections with a comprehensive strategy to invest in domestic supply chains and manufacturing capacity to prevent the country from falling further behind China's lead in production capacity.
