Indigo Partners Deploys Starlink Across Five Low-Cost Airlines
Indigo Partners is installing Starlink Wi-Fi on over 1,000 aircraft across five portfolio airlines, including Frontier Airlines and Cebu Pacific, starting in 2027.
Private equity firm Indigo Partners is spearheading a broad deployment of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet across five of its portfolio airlines, including Frontier Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Wizz Air, Volaris, and JetSMART. The initiative will see the technology installed on more than 1,000 aircraft to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity for HD streaming, gaming, and video conferencing.
Frontier Airlines announced on July 14, 2026, that it will equip its fleet of over 180 aircraft with the service beginning in early 2027. The Denver-based carrier will be the first U.S. airline to implement a system managed directly by Starlink, providing gate-to-gate connectivity for passengers, pilots, flight attendants, and ground crews. This move ends Frontier's history as a holdout on in-flight Wi-Fi, a strategy previously used to minimize weight and costs. The upgrade aligns with other efforts to attract premium customers, such as new First Class seating and an improved loyalty program.
Cebu Pacific also announced it will become the first low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia to introduce Starlink in-flight Wi-Fi, with a gradual rollout starting in 2027. While Frontier has not yet disclosed pricing for its service, it joins other major U.S. carriers like United and Southwest in selecting Starlink over competitors such as Amazon's Leo service.
