First Solar Cuts Sales Forecast Amid Tariff Uncertainty

First Solar reduced its full-year volume forecast after third-quarter net sales fell 23 percent despite a rise in net income to $571 million.

First Solar reduced its full-year volume sold forecast to between 16.0 GW and 17.0 GW, citing tariff uncertainty as the primary cause for a slowdown in orders. The company reported third-quarter 2026 financial results showing $1.23 billion in net sales, which represents a 23 percent decline year over year. This drop was attributed to lower volumes of modules sold to third parties.

Despite the decline in sales, the company saw growth in profitability. Net income rose 25 percent year over year to $571 million, and gross margins increased by approximately 20 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2025, reaching 58 percent. In conjunction with these financial results, the company authorized a new $500 million stock buyback program.
