Karnataka Removes 241,082 Voters During Electoral Roll Revision

Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar announced the removal of 241,082 voters from the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) list between August 5 and August 12. The removals followed verification during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, which includes house-to-house enumeration.

While some voters were restored after submitting enumeration forms, the verification process identified 6,796 additional dead voters and 12,918 duplicate entries. Approximately 19.62% of the state's 5.54 crore voters currently remain in the ASDDO category and will be excluded from the draft electoral roll.

To improve accessibility, the state rationalized polling stations to ensure no single site exceeds 1,200 voters. This adjustment added 1,848 new stations, bringing the total count to 60,898. The Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for the house-to-house enumeration process until August 17.
