Mokulele Airlines Wins $19.4 Million Federal Contract for Lanai
Mokulele Airlines secured a four-year federal contract to provide scheduled air service between Lanai, Honolulu, and Kahului through August 2030.
Mokulele Airlines secured a four-year, $19.4 million federal contract from the U.S. Department of Transportation to maintain scheduled air service for Lanai. The Essential Air Service contract runs through August 2030 and requires the carrier to operate 126 weekly flights, including 42 round trips to Honolulu and 21 round trips to Kahului.
The U.S. Department of Transportation selected the airline through a competitive process, citing its history of serving the island and its existing infrastructure in Hawaii. Louis Saint-Cyr, President of Airline Operations at Surf Air Mobility, stated that the Lanai community has depended on their operations for many years and that the company remains committed to the island.
Surf Air Mobility, the parent company of Mokulele, noted that the contract supports its broader objective of launching the first commercial passenger electric flights in the United States.
