Qualcomm and KAUST Partner to Advance Saudi 6G and AI

Qualcomm Technologies International and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology launched a strategic collaboration to develop Saudi Arabia's 6G and artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Qualcomm Technologies International and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) have established a strategic collaboration to accelerate the development of 6G and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in Saudi Arabia. The partnership focuses on five primary pillars: workforce development, applied research in Edge AI and autonomous systems, intellectual property education, curriculum support, and commercialization pathways for startups.

Under the agreement, KAUST students will access the Qualcomm Academy eLearning platform to earn certifications in 5G wireless and generative AI. Research efforts will leverage Qualcomm's AI and robotics platforms to develop infrastructure monitoring for oil and gas operations, RF sensing, and Digital Twins. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial products, highlighting the KAUST spinoff MOBISENSE as a model for utilizing Qualcomm's AI development ecosystem.
