U.S. Stock Futures Rise as July Inflation Slows
U.S. stock futures rose Wednesday after Labor Department data showed annual inflation slowed to 3.4 percent in July.
U.S. stock futures rose on Wednesday following a report from the United States Department of Labor showing that consumer prices increased by 0.1 percent in July, matching economist expectations. The annual inflation rate slowed to 3.4 percent, down from 3.5 percent in June, while the annual core inflation rate, which excludes food and energy, dipped to 2.5 percent from 2.6 percent.
Market strength was further supported by positive quarterly results and guidance from AI-related companies, specifically CoreWeave and Super Micro Computer. These figures are expected to ease investor concerns regarding the inflation outlook and future interest rate movements.
However, overall buying interest may be tempered by rising crude oil prices. This price increase follows a series of attacks on vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman.
