Franklin Templeton Executive Predicts Tokenization Will Transform Asset Management

Chris Perkins of Franklin Templeton argues that regulatory clarity in the United States is accelerating institutional adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain tokenization.

Institutional adoption of cryptocurrency and tokenization is accelerating due to increased regulatory clarity and predictability in the United States, according to Chris Perkins of Franklin Templeton.

Perkins asserts that tokenization will become the backbone of asset management by enabling markets to operate 24/7, which he describes as the natural state of finance. He notes that pension funds and sovereign wealth funds are currently developing strategies to increase their exposure to digital assets.

While Perkins identifies cyber risk and the threat of quantum computing to public key encryption as significant challenges, he believes artificial intelligence will help make markets safer. He predicts the integration of AI and blockchain will eventually produce bespoke investment products tailored to the specific needs of individual and institutional investors.

Franklin Templeton has pursued a strategy of leadership in tokenization since 2018, a commitment established by leader Jenny Johnson.
