HRCB Report Documents Surge in Balochistan Human Rights Abuses
The Human Rights Council of Balochistan reports a 79 percent increase in enforced disappearances and a 25 percent rise in killings during 2025.
The Human Rights Council of Balochistan released a report documenting a severe deterioration of human rights in Balochistan throughout 2025. The findings indicate that Pakistani forces, secret agencies, and state-backed militias were responsible for 1,482 enforced disappearances, marking a 79 percent increase over 2024. The report also documented 598 killings, a 25 percent increase from the previous year, with 54.3 percent of those deaths attributed to security forces and state-sponsored death squads.
The Frontier Corps was identified as the primary perpetrator, linked to 897 disappearances and 195 killings. The report specifically highlights the impact on youth, noting that 108 minors disappeared and 29 were killed.
These violations allegedly occurred during large-scale military operations and communication blackouts. The report claims that counter-terrorism laws were used to criminalize political and humanitarian activities in the region.
