Microsoft Executive Predicts India Will Lead Global AI Projects

Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director and President of the Microsoft India Development Center, stated that India is likely to become a global leader in the total number of artificial intelligence projects. Speaking at the Microsoft AI Infrastructure Summit India, Kumar argued that the value of AI should be measured by its ability to improve human lives and provide better agency rather than its capacity to replace workers.

Kumar highlighted AI-assisted video analysis in railway operations as a practical example of how technology can enhance safety by combining human capital with automation. He asserted that AI will transform all aspects of life and significantly accelerate economic growth.

According to Kumar, the integration of AI could potentially increase GDP growth from the current 2-3% to as high as 20%. He emphasized that the technology should be viewed as a tool for assistance rather than a replacement for the workforce.
