CNN and Google Partner to Integrate Generative AI

CNN entered a multi-year partnership with Google to use generative AI for audience engagement and content delivery.

The Cable News Network, Inc. announced a strategic multi-year partnership with Google on October 15, 2026, to explore how generative AI can increase audience engagement. Under the agreement, CNN will provide enhanced content rights to enable experimental features within Google products.

Sam Felix, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development at CNN, stated that the partnership aims to unlock new pathways for audiences to access journalism while ensuring the network is compensated for the use of its intellectual property. The deal focuses on using generative AI tools to help the network explore new ways to discover and engage audiences.

This agreement marks the first major move since the merger of Skydance and Paramount. CEO David Ellison intends to transition the combined media group into a technology-driven business. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
