Meta Muse and Instinct Drive Personal AI Agent Growth

Meta Platforms and independent startup Instinct are pushing personal AI agents into the mainstream by automating daily tasks through direct access to user data.

Meta Platforms Incorporated and an independent startup have accelerated the mainstream adoption of personal AI agents with the release of the Muse app and Instinct. These tools automate daily tasks by accessing a user's emails, texts, calendars, and bank accounts to operate with high levels of unsupervised control over personal data.

Muse saw rapid initial growth, with Apptopia estimating 1.8 million App Store downloads within its first 12 days of availability. The Instinct agent, launched in August, focuses on deep integration with the iMessage app to provide near-immediate responses to user queries.

While the level of data access required for these agents is significant, users have reported excitement over the ability to automate routine personal management.
