APC Schedules Primary Elections for Six Nigerian States

The All Progressives Congress scheduled primary elections for Saturday, August 22, 2026, to select candidates for legislative bye-elections and restored state constituencies across six Nigerian states. The primaries target vacancies in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta, and Kano, as well as restored House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi.

This scheduling follows a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission to restore four previously suppressed constituencies after court judgments. The electoral timeline includes the sale of nomination forms from August 18 to August 20, followed by candidate screening on August 21.

Financial requirements for aspirants vary by office, with House of Assembly candidates facing total fees of N6 million and House of Representatives aspirants paying N10 million. The party is providing discounts for youth, female, and disabled candidates. National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu signed the official timetable for the process.
