AI Adoption Fails to Deliver Major Business Gains
Research from Bain, Dentsu Creative, and PwC shows a significant gap between the widespread adoption of AI and its actual impact on business performance.
Recent research from Bain & Company, Dentsu Creative, and PwC reveals a stark disconnect between the adoption of artificial intelligence and its measurable business impact. A Bain study of 1,397 senior executives found that while 95% of marketing organizations have adopted AI tools, only 6% report a significant performance impact.
Similar trends appear across other sectors. Dentsu Creative found that 70% of senior marketing decision-makers have not seen major cost efficiencies, while a PwC survey of 4,454 CEOs indicated that 56% reported neither higher revenues nor lower costs from AI over the previous 12 months.
Companies identified as leaders, characterized by high revenue and market share growth, are more likely to achieve double-digit growth or cost savings. These organizations typically centralize AI strategies and restructure their teams. This shift has led some companies, such as Wix.com, to replace narrow specialists with full-stack marketers or orchestrators. Consequently, marketing job postings have declined 25% compared to pre-pandemic levels, according to data from Indeed.
