Finance Minister Dismisses GPAA Head Over R2bn Asset Breach

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana dismissed Kedibone Madiehe, the suspended head of the Government Pensions Administration Agency, after she was found guilty of breaching the Public Finance Management Act. The investigation revealed that Madiehe compromised more than R2bn in public assets through a series of corrupt actions.

Her transgressions included approving a fictitious R1.3bn lease agreement for offices with a company that did not own the property and making irregular advance payments. Madiehe also used public funds to hire forensic investigators to target whistleblowers and suspended senior managers who refused to follow her unlawful instructions.

While the dismissal is final, the situation now shifts to the National Prosecuting Authority. Questions remain regarding whether the state will pursue criminal prosecution to recover wasted public funds from Madiehe's personal assets.
