Apple to Launch First Touchscreen MacBook Pro by November
Apple is developing a redesigned MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen, Tandem OLED display, and M5 chips for a release by November 2026.
Apple is preparing to launch its first touchscreen MacBook Pro models, with an expected debut in October or November 2026. The new 14-inch and 16-inch high-end notebooks will feature Tandem OLED displays and a Dynamic Island, replacing the current notch design.
The devices will be significantly lighter than previous iterations due to a rearrangement of internal components and the miniaturization of parts. These models are expected to be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, as the company has reportedly accelerated the timeline for the subsequent M7 chip launch.
To support the new hardware, Apple is integrating touch-specific controls into macOS 27.2 and macOS Golden Gate. These software updates include interface adjustments to volume controls, app icons, contextual menus, and pinch-to-zoom functionality to facilitate finger-based navigation. Despite the addition of the touchscreen, the laptops will retain the traditional keyboard and trackpad rather than transitioning into Mac-iPad hybrids.
