Nvidia Hits $5 Trillion Market Cap Amid AI Valuation Shifts
Nvidia became the world's most valuable company with a $5 trillion market cap as investors re-evaluate AI stock valuations across the technology sector.
Market valuations for leading artificial intelligence firms have shifted as Nvidia became the world's most valuable company with a market capitalization of $5 trillion. This milestone comes after a period of volatility where Nvidia, Amazon, and Microsoft saw valuations fall to at least five-year lows due to investor concerns that AI adoption might slow.
Despite the valuation dip, the companies reported strong financial growth. Nvidia's fiscal 2027 first-quarter revenue rose 85% to $81.6 billion. Amazon reported first-quarter revenue of $182 billion, a 17% increase, while Microsoft's fiscal 2026 third-quarter revenue grew 18% to $83 billion. These results occurred alongside compressed price-to-earnings ratios for the trio, ranging from 23 for Microsoft to 33 for Nvidia.
Other AI-focused firms have maintained higher premiums relative to their earnings. Broadcom reported a 143% increase in AI-related semiconductor revenue with a P/E multiple of 66. Palantir reported an 85% first-quarter revenue increase, while its competitor Advanced Micro Devices saw revenue rise 38% to $10.3 billion for the period ending March 28. Among the group, Advanced Micro Devices trades at the highest premium with a P/E multiple of 188.
