Project Jupiter Affiliates Donate $87,000 to Deb Haaland

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Deb Haaland accepted more than $87,000 in campaign donations between June 28 and September 7 from executives and companies linked to Project Jupiter. The contributions include $12,400 from Oracle and at least $74,800 from individuals associated with Oracle and the construction firm Clayco.

These donations contrast with Haaland's public stance on the industry. She has supported a moratorium on new data center development until legal guardrails are established, stating that data centers do not have the best interests of the community at heart. In contrast, Republican candidate Gregg Hull, who opposes such a moratorium, received no donations from these sources during the same period.

Project Jupiter is a proposed $165 billion data center campus in Doña Ana County designed for AI infrastructure for Oracle and OpenAI. The project has faced significant opposition over transparency and environmental concerns. Haaland plans to release a data center accountability plan on September 18.
