Russian Missiles and Drones Explode on Moldovan Soil
President Maia Sandu condemned Russia after five aerial weapons violated Moldovan airspace and exploded in four districts during an attack on Ukraine.
Five Russian aerial weapons, including Banderol missiles and drones, violated Moldovan airspace and exploded on its territory on the morning of October 3, 2026. The incursions occurred between 7:45 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. during a broader Russian attack on Ukraine.
Maia Sandu, the President of Moldova, condemned the strikes and stated that Russia's war is "dangerously reaching Moldova." Debris and detonation sites were identified across the districts of Hincesti, Anenii Noi, Causeni, and Stefan Voda. While the explosions caused property damage and vegetation fires, no casualties were reported.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova issued a strong condemnation, noting that the country's airspace has been breached eight times in the past week. The ministry warned that the conflict in Ukraine continues to pose concrete threats to the security of the entire region.
Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov denied the allegations, claiming Moscow has received no evidence that the drones are of Russian origin. Ozerov accused the Moldovan government of making unsubstantiated accusations and ignoring proposals for joint investigations.
