Tesla Postpones Roadster Reveal to October 15 Due to Weather
Tesla rescheduled its second-generation Roadster demonstration from October 1 to October 15 following severe weather forecasts in Texas.
Tesla Inc. postponed the unveiling and demonstration of its second-generation Roadster from October 1 to October 15, 2026. The company cited severe weather forecasts in the Waco and McGregor areas of Texas, including high winds, thunderstorms, and potential flash flooding, as the reasons for the delay.
Because the showcase requires an outdoor setting, the company determined that conditions were unsuitable for the planned experience. Reports indicate the demonstration will feature cold-gas thrusters developed by Space Exploration Technologies Corp. to show the vehicle hovering remotely. The Federal Aviation Administration issued an airspace restriction around the McGregor test facility to accommodate these high energy testing operations.
This delay follows nearly a decade of anticipation since the supercar concept was first revealed in 2017 for a planned 2020 launch. Despite the reschedule, the company continues to accept $50,000 reservations for the vehicle.
