Aldi UK Invests £100 Million to Cut Summer Grocery Prices
Aldi UK is spending £100 million to reduce prices on 330 products and expanding its store footprint in the UK and United States.
Aldi UK invested an additional £100 million to reduce the prices of 330 products across its stores to support families during the summer school holidays. This initiative targets fresh and frozen food, cupboard staples, household goods, and personal care items, including British steaks, fresh produce, cheddar cheese, and Lacura SPF50+ lotion. These latest cuts bring the total number of price-reduced items to over 1,000 this year, representing a cumulative investment of £300 million.
The price reductions coincide with the relaunch of the company's Summer Support Scheme, which provides £50 grocery vouchers to families daily throughout July and August.
Separately, the retailer is executing an aggressive physical expansion. In the UK, Aldi is investing over £370 million into new premises across 25 priority locations to reach a nationwide goal of 1,500 stores, with 16 new outlets opening soon. The company also aims to open more than 180 new stores in the United States by the end of 2026.
