Micron Reports Record Revenue Amid New Chinese Competition
Micron Technology reported record quarterly revenue of $41.5 billion as AI demand drives growth despite rising competition from China's ChangXin Memory Technologies.
The semiconductor company Micron Technology reported record fiscal third-quarter 2026 revenue of $41.5 billion, supported by 16 Strategic Customer Agreements that secured approximately $100 billion in baseline revenue. Despite these gains, the company's stock experienced recent volatility, declining 25% from a peak in late June after rising roughly 190% for the year.
CEO Sanjay Mehrotra projects that tight supply conditions for memory will persist beyond 2027. He attributes this outlook to the continued expansion of data centers and the emergence of AI-powered humanoid robots.
Market volatility has been fueled by investor concerns over the cyclical nature of the memory industry and the rise of new competitors. Specifically, ChangXin Memory Technologies went public in Shanghai on July 27, raising $8.6 billion to become the most valuable listed company in China. This new competition, combined with uncertainty regarding the long-term infrastructure spending of hyperscalers, has contributed to recent market jitters.
