SK hynix Denies Plans to Acquire Intel Ohio Facilities

SK hynix denied reports that it is pursuing the acquisition of Intel Corporation's memory manufacturing facilities in Ohio. The company issued a clarification on the KOSPI stock exchange on July 22, 2026, after the JoongAng Ilbo reported that SK hynix had cleared internal reviews and government approval to proceed with the deal.

The report suggested the potential acquisition was driven by high memory chip demand and pressure from the U.S. government. However, the company stated that there is no truth to the claims regarding the Intel Ohio site.

This development follows a 2022 transaction in which Intel sold its NAND memory manufacturing operations in Dalian, China, to SK hynix for $9 billion. Despite the denial of the Ohio deal, the company noted it continues to review various investment and acquisition opportunities for business purposes.
