High Early Voter Turnout Reported Across Maryland, Tennessee, and Texas

Election officials in Maryland, Tennessee, and Texas report strong early voting turnout for the November 3 gubernatorial and midterm elections.

Early voting for the November 3 gubernatorial and midterm elections has seen significant participation across several states. In Maryland, David Naimon, President of the Montgomery County Board of Elections, reported that 50,000 mail-in ballots had already been returned as 14 early voting centers opened. Naimon emphasized that bipartisan teams handle every step of the ballot collection and processing to ensure transparency.

High volume continued across other Maryland jurisdictions, where Baltimore County Elections Administrator Ruie Lavoie reported approximately 63,000 ballots cast on the first day of early voting. Lavoie noted that voter flow remained smooth, particularly in Honeygo and Randallstown.

Similar trends appeared in other states. In Cameron County, Texas, Elections Administrator Remi Garza reported nearly 26,000 ballots cast during the first three days, with the Brownsville Public Library serving as the most popular site. Garza described the volume as a presidential level of turnout for a gubernatorial year.

In Montgomery County, Tennessee, nearly 15,000 ballots were cast by the midpoint of the early voting period, putting the county on pace for 45 percent turnout. Tennessee voters are deciding races for governor, Congress, and the General Assembly, as well as the mayor of Clarksville and three constitutional amendments regarding crime victims' rights, state property taxes, and bail.
