Hyundai, Kia and Genesis Hit Record July Sales

Hyundai Motor North America reported record July sales for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, driven by strong hybrid and SUV demand despite falling battery-electric vehicle sales.

Hyundai Motor North America reported record-breaking July 2026 sales across its three brands: Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. Hyundai total U.S. sales rose 4 percent year-over-year to 82,480 units, fueled by a 35 percent surge in hybrid electric vehicle sales and high demand for the Tucson and Elantra. Kia sales increased 7 percent to 75,857 units, while Genesis achieved its best July ever with 6,947 units, a 4 percent increase.

Growth for the group was primarily driven by SUVs and hybrid models. Conversely, battery-electric vehicle sales declined across all brands. The Ioniq 5 saw a 38 percent drop in sales, and the Kia EV6 fell 48 percent. This downturn follows the elimination of the federal tax credit last autumn.

Year-to-date figures show continued growth for the brands. Hyundai has sold 533,048 vehicles, Kia has sold 506,584, and Genesis has sold 46,035, representing increases of 3 percent, 4 percent, and 5 percent respectively.
