Moses Wetang’ula Urges Peaceful 2027 Election Campaigns
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula called on political leaders and youth to reject violence and goonism ahead of the 2027 General Election.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula called on political leaders and supporters to reject political violence and goonism ahead of the 2027 General Election. Speaking in Ikolomani while consoling Senator Boni Khalwale following the death of his wife, Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, Wetang’ula urged candidates to compete based on ideas, policies, and development agendas rather than mobilizing supporters to attack opponents.
Wetang’ula warned that political violence threatens national security and undermines constitutional rights to peaceful participation and credible elections. He pleaded with young people and politicians to remain peaceful, stating that "politics must never divide us."
Other leaders joined the call for social cohesion. Ikolomani MP Innocent Mugabe urged residents to remain peace-loving during the final send-off for Mama Gloria, while Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei cautioned Kenyans against interpreting political differences as personal disputes.
