Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan Establish Bilateral Coordination Council
Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan created a coordination council to institutionalize cooperation in energy, investment, and agribusiness during a diplomatic visit to Riyadh.
The Government of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Kazakhstan established the Saudi–Kazakh Coordination Council on February 17, 2026. The agreement was reached during an official visit to Riyadh by Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.
Chaired by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Minister Kosherbayev, the council aims to institutionalize bilateral cooperation and enhance consultation. The two nations signed intergovernmental agreements focusing on the mutual protection and promotion of investments, specifically targeting agribusiness, infrastructure, energy storage systems, and renewable energy.
Beyond investment, the ministers coordinated on international frameworks including the United Nations and OPEC+, while discussing global oil market developments. The diplomatic effort coincides with a push by Kazakhstan to expand Saudi investment within its own energy and infrastructure sectors.
