PayPal Holdings Inc. Integrates PYUSD Into AI Infrastructure Funding
PayPal Holdings Inc. is partnering with the USD.AI Foundation to provide stablecoin-denominated credit for AI firms to finance data centers and hardware.
The payment company PayPal Holdings Inc. is extending the utility of its PYUSD stablecoin to fund artificial intelligence infrastructure through a partnership with the USD.AI Foundation. The initiative links PYUSD to on-chain funding mechanisms that provide credit to AI firms for the acquisition of graphics processing units (GPUs), data centers, and other critical hardware. Loans issued by the USD.AI Foundation will be denominated in PYUSD, allowing borrowers to receive proceeds directly into their PayPal accounts.
To encourage adoption of the new system, PayPal Holdings Inc. and the USD.AI Foundation will launch a one-year incentive program next month. This program offers a 4.5% return on deposits up to $1 billion. The strategic shift addresses a growing need for alternative financing as global AI compute spending is projected to reach $6.7 trillion by 2029, which is expected to place significant pressure on traditional capital markets.
