Tennessee Trump Superstore Closes Due to Declining Business

The Tennessee Trump Superstore, a roadside retail outlet located along Interstate 40 near Knoxville, is closing due to a lack of business. William Hays, the store's owner, confirmed the shutdown and refuted initial local reports suggesting he was retiring or relocating to Florida.

Opened in April 2024, the store is currently liquidating its remaining inventory at 50 percent discounts. Hays noted that the business experienced peak periods following major political events, such as the bombing of Iran and the July 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump. However, a subsequent decline in foot traffic made the venture unsustainable.

An employee attributed the dwindling sales to economic hardships facing working-class Republican voters and a decrease in the former president's popularity. Hays, who describes himself as a businessman rather than a political actor, stated that his decisions are driven by profitability. While the superstore is closing, Hays intends to keep the property to launch a different business targeted at local clientele.
