Apple Moves M5 Vision Pro Assembly to Vietnam

Apple Inc. shifted the assembly of its updated M5 Vision Pro headset from China to Vietnam, as indicated by new packaging labels. The upgraded headset, which features an M5 chip for enhanced battery life, display rendering, and AI performance, became available for preorder on October 22 with a starting price of $3,499 in the United States.

While the full headset units are now labeled as products of Vietnam, the company continues to manufacture the Dual Knit headband in China when sold as a standalone accessory. The previous M2-powered Vision Pro model was produced in China by Luxshare Precision Industry Co.

This transition is part of a larger strategy to reduce reliance on Chinese manufacturing amid commercial tensions between Washington and Beijing and tariffs implemented by the Donald Trump administration. To further diversify, Apple is expanding production in India, Thailand, and Malaysia. Additionally, partner Corning Inc. is producing cover glass for iPhones and Apple Watches within the United States.
