Turkish Confidence Indices Decline Across Three Key Industries
The Turkish Statistical Institute reported August declines in confidence indices for the service, retail trade, and construction sectors.
The Turkish Statistical Institute reported a decline in confidence indices across three key industries for August 2026. The service sector index decreased by 0.1 percent to 111.9, the retail trade sector dropped by 0.8 percent to 110.1, and the construction sector declined by 0.4 percent to 83.1.
While the service and retail sectors remain above the 100-mark, indicating an optimistic outlook, the construction sector has fallen below this threshold. Recent trends show a 5.8 percent decrease in retail business activity-sales over the past three months and a 3.8 percent drop in construction order levels.
Despite these declines, some indicators show modest growth. Expectations for future demand in services and retail, as well as employment in construction, increased for the coming three months.
