Wendy's Cuts Dividend and Withdraws 2026 Financial Outlook

The Wendy's Co. reduced its dividend and withdrew its 2026 financial outlook to fund a turnaround plan following a second-quarter sales slump.

The Wendy's Co. withdrew its 2026 financial outlook and reduced its dividend to an annualized rate of 28 cents per share on Friday. The company intends to use the resulting capital flexibility to fund a turnaround plan after second-quarter comparable sales fell more than analysts had expected.

Chief Executive Bob Wright stated that the company is not performing at its potential, specifically citing failures in traffic, value proposition, and franchisee economics. In response, the brand has begun implementing changes to its operations, marketing, and value offerings to address these deficiencies.

Shares of the fast-food corporation fell 2.8% in New York premarket trading following the announcement.
