Piyush Goyal Urges Indian Entrepreneurs to Build Global Brands

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal called on young entrepreneurs to expand beyond domestic markets and build world-class brands to drive India's economic transformation.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urged young Indian entrepreneurs to build globally competitive businesses and world-class brands during the Festival of Ideas in New Delhi on October 30, 2026. Goyal stated that India's economic transformation must be driven by entrepreneurs who look beyond the domestic market, leveraging the nation's expanding startup ecosystem, manufacturing capabilities, and free trade agreements.

He specifically encouraged the exploration of high-value services, manufacturing, and deep technology to integrate Indian businesses more deeply into global value chains. During the event, Goyal participated in a fireside chat with Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.

Following the festival, Goyal attended the Business Odisha Conclave. He discussed strategies for Odisha to strengthen its manufacturing and export sectors through existing trade partnerships. He emphasized that increasing investment in research and development and adopting an export-oriented approach are essential for Indian businesses to remain competitive on an international scale.
