AMD Hits $1 Trillion Market Capitalization Amid AI Rally

Advanced Micro Devices reached a $1 trillion market valuation following a 195% stock rally driven by AI chip demand and hyperscaler deals.

Advanced Micro Devices reached a market capitalization of $1 trillion on September 25, 2026, joining an elite group of AI chip stocks that includes Nvidia, Broadcom, Taiwan Semi, Samsung, and Micron. The company's stock rallied 195% this year, fueled by the adoption of its EPYC processors and Instinct accelerators alongside significant deals with hyperscalers.

Despite the valuation milestone, AMD's financial growth remains significantly behind its primary competitor, Nvidia. While AMD reported quarterly sales of $11.5 billion, Nvidia recorded $96 billion in the same period. This disparity is reflected in AMD's high price-to-earnings ratio of 162, which analysts suggest indicates the company has won the current market narrative more than its immediate earnings power.

Nvidia continues to expand its market presence beyond GPUs through the Grace CPU and the upcoming Vera Rubin CPU architecture, which is forecast to generate $20 billion in sales next quarter. Nvidia aims to establish itself as a leading server CPU supplier by fiscal 2028, maintaining a valuation more closely aligned with its actual earnings.
