U.S. National Gas Prices Hit $4 Per Gallon

The United States national average for gasoline has reached $4 per gallon for the second time this year, while diesel averages have hit $5 twice during the same period. Prices are trending upward across several states; Tennessee's statewide average for regular 87-octane gasoline rose to $3.62 per gallon, and Wisconsin saw a statewide increase of 17 cents from the preceding week.

AAA–The Auto Club Group attributed the price hikes to market uncertainty and strong summer travel demand, predicting further local increases for the week. Other analysts from Gas Buddy linked the fluctuations to conflict in Iran and strikes by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine against oil refineries owned by the Federal Government of Russia. Gas Buddy advised drivers to reduce speed and overall fuel consumption due to the unpredictable nature of these international tensions.
