India and Greece Target 4 Billion Dollar Trade Goal
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal led a business delegation to Greece to expand trade, investment, and technological collaboration through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal led a high-level business delegation to Greece to expand bilateral trade, investment, and strategic economic collaboration. The mission included roundtable discussions at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry and startup pitches at The Athens Startup Business Incubator, focusing on infrastructure, digitalization, defense, and agriculture.
During the visit, Goyal met with Greek Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos and Deputy Foreign Minister Haris Theoharis. The officials discussed strengthening industrial cooperation and resilient supply chains, specifically in manufacturing and emerging technologies. These discussions continued through June 30, 2026, with meetings in New Delhi to further advance the India-Greece Strategic Partnership and maritime connectivity.
India and Greece are now targeting a doubling of bilateral trade to 4 billion USD by 2030, supported by the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. This goal follows a period of significant growth, with bilateral trade rising from 689.33 million USD in FY21 to 1.68 billion USD in FY25. The diplomatic push follows a similar mission by Goyal to the United Kingdom to advance a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
