TG Jones Closes Marlborough Store Amid National Restructuring
TG Jones will close its Marlborough high street shop on October 17 as part of a court-approved plan to shut 150 UK stores.
TG Jones will close its high street shop in Marlborough, Wiltshire, on October 17. The closure is part of a court-approved restructuring plan for the national retail chain that involves shutting approximately 150 of its 450 UK stores. The broader plan includes rent cuts for hundreds of remaining shops and a three-year rent holiday for 120 landlords.
The company, owned by Modella, took over the WHSmith franchise in June 2025. This is the second recent closure in the region, following the shutdown of the Regent Street store in Swindon on September 13.
Additionally, the company owns the freehold for the WHSmith Greenbridge headquarters in Swindon. That site has received planning permission for demolition to facilitate the construction of a new housing estate.
