Punjab CM Launches Industrial Policy at Bharat Tex 2026

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann introduced the Punjab Industrial and Business Development Policy 2026 to transform the state into a full-chain textile manufacturing hub.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann promoted the state as a comprehensive textile manufacturing hub during the Bharat Tex 2026 exhibition at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. To attract investment and expand exports, Mann introduced the Punjab Industrial and Business Development Policy 2026, which utilizes the Right to Business Act and the FastTrack Punjab portal to accelerate approvals for entrepreneurs.

Mann highlighted Punjab's integrated textile ecosystem, noting that 97 companies from the state participated in the event. He specifically emphasized the role of Ludhiana, which produces approximately 90 percent of India's woollen knitwear, while stating the state is now targeting smart, medical, and technical fabrics. He urged investors to leverage competitive power tariffs and single-window clearance systems.

Outside of industrial promotion, Mann criticized the national government's rollout of E20 fuel, alleging that the fuel causes vehicle breakdowns and reduces mileage. He called for a reduction in petrol prices following a decrease in global crude oil costs.
