Pete Buttigieg Rejects Joe Biden Messaging Ahead of 2028 Bid

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg rejected the 'return to normal' messaging and the 'Build Back Better' slogan used during Joe Biden's 2020 campaign. In an interview with Politico, Buttigieg stated he is removing words like 'back' and 're-' from his vocabulary, arguing that the Democratic Party must focus on building the future rather than selling a previous status quo.

While Buttigieg described Biden as a "good man" and "good boss," he declined to characterize him as a mentor, citing a lack of personal closeness. These policy shifts coincide with a University of New Hampshire Granite State Poll showing Buttigieg competitive with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a potential 2028 presidential candidate.

Buttigieg has since supported proposals to expand the Supreme Court and eliminate the Electoral College, asserting that the current political system is "letting us down." Reince Priebus, a former RNC chairman and Fox News analyst, criticized these positions, claiming Buttigieg is aligning himself with people who are "far outside the mainstream."
