Ukraine Scales Drone Production to 4 Million Units Annually

Mykhailo Fedorov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, reported that the nation's drone industry has grown from 10 producers in 2022 to over 500 in 2025. Ukraine now produces approximately 4 million drones annually, including long-range strike and first-person-view models, a figure that surpasses the estimated yearly output of the United States and the combined production of all NATO countries.

To protect operations from the warzone and meet rising demand, Ukrainian firms are establishing production facilities across Europe. The company Skyeton has opened sites in the United Kingdom, Slovakia, and Denmark, while the firm Fire Point is building a rocket fuel plant in Denmark for its Flamingo cruise missile. Additionally, the producer TSIR is partnering with Finland's Summa Defence Plc through the FlyWell consortium to establish a tactical drone plant in Finland, with the consortium seeking to raise $50 million.

Supporting this shift, the Government of Denmark has allocated 500 million kroner, or $77 million, to facilitate Ukrainian arms production on its soil. Ukraine also plans to open arms export offices in Berlin and Copenhagen to sell combat-tested weaponry internationally. This model of treating drones as expendable assets is influencing Western military doctrine, a shift noted by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
