FedEx Loses Access Points in Carlisle and Billings

FedEx is experiencing a reduction in physical access points across two different regions due to separate retail and corporate shifts. In Carlisle, United Kingdom, the city has lost its only authorized FedEx parcel drop-off point following the permanent closure of five Premier Foreways shops. The Bedford Road store, which served as the sole local hub, closed as part of a wider liquidation of the company.

William Bone, the owner of Premier Foreways, announced the closures of stores on Bedford Road, Wigton Road, Blackwell Road, Newlaithes Avenue, and Warwick Road. The accounting firm Armstrong Watson has been appointed to manage the liquidation process. As a result, Carlisle residents must now travel at least 14 kilometers to a Costcutter store in Gretna, or visit locations in Annan and Abbeytown, to access FedEx services.

Separately, in Billings, Montana, FedEx is closing its Ship Center at 1148 First Avenue North on September 26, 2026. Unlike the Carlisle situation, this is a strategic consolidation of local operations rather than a market exit. The company is redirecting downtown customers to the FedEx Office at 2450 King Ave W, while offering website-based pickup scheduling and various authorized drop boxes in bank lobbies and grocery stores throughout the city.
