Azerbaijan Facilitates Russian Propane and Grain Shipments to Armenia

The Government of Azerbaijan facilitated the transit of multiple Russian shipments to Armenia between August 24 and August 25, 2026. On August 24, Azerbaijan enabled the movement of seven railway wagons carrying 242 tons of Russian propane from Bilajari station toward Boyuk Kesik.

Following the propane delivery, Azerbaijan facilitated a second shipment on August 25 consisting of 14 railcars of wheat weighing 976 metric tons and one railcar of lumber weighing 65 metric tons. These movements are part of a broader trend of increased cargo transit between Russia and Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, which has already included over 50,000 metric tons of grain and 9,000 metric tons of fertilizer.

In addition to facilitating Russian transit, Azerbaijan has directly exported approximately 15,000 tons of diesel fuel and 5,000 tons of gasoline to Armenia. These actions follow a policy shift announced on October 21, 2025, when President Ilham Aliyev confirmed the removal of all cargo transit restrictions to Armenia that had been in place since the period of occupation.
