Indian President Droupadi Murmu will conduct state visits to the Republic of Moldova and Romania from July 20 to 25, 2026. The trip begins on July 20 with the first-ever visit by an Indian president to Moldova, where she is scheduled to meet President Maia Sandu and Parliament speaker Igor Grosu.
From July 23 to 25, President Murmu will visit Romania, marking the first visit by an Indian head of state to the country in over three decades. In Bucharest, she will hold official talks with Nicușor Dan at Cotroceni Palace and meet with acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and parliamentary leaders to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations.
The itinerary includes the India-Romania Business Forum, which focuses on expanding cooperation in defense manufacturing, IT, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. Additionally, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies will award President Murmu an honorary doctorate. These visits reflect India's strategy to deepen engagement with Eastern Europe through partnerships based on shared democratic values and diversified supply chains.
